So with gyms currently closed, I have been trying to do my own fitness regime at home. As you will have read in my Fitness Diary entries, I am trying to mix up my exercise as much as possible. I am going it not only for my physical health by also my mental health.

Today for the Patricia Bech Fitness Diary I am writing about home arm workouts

Although working out makes you feel good generally, I am finding my outdoor walks best for improving my mindset. I think it is because I enjoy the different environment, the change of scene and the nature that you can enjoy.

But the trouble with walking is that it doesn’t really do much for your muscles. I have been trying to do some exercises that I would otherwise do in the gym but at home. I have been doing these a couple of times a week.

Today, I thought I would write about the arm routines that I have been doing. There are quite a few weightless workouts that you can follow on YouTube, but I decided to get some dumbbells at the start of lockdown. This is one industry that must be doing well during lockdown because fitness equipment is very popular to buy! I have noticed that they have weights in stock on the likes of Amazon and Argos though so you should still be able to get some.

I then search YouTube to find a good instructor to follow. There are lots of arm workouts that you can watch and it depends on the style of teacher that you like to follow. I pick a couple of workouts a week. Sometimes they are only 5 minutes long and ones that can be repeated, but at times I will go up to a 20 minute video. Here is a link to one that I like

I have only been doing these for a short while, but I have already noticed that my arms feel more toned. Improving your muscle strength is also a great way to help lose weight and I find the variation of picking a different video each time great for motivation.
